ICAN medical scholars program is a program whose goal is to provide kids from grades 9-12
who are interested in medicine with instruction, coursework and mentorship
in pursuit of careers in the medical sciences. The goal of the program is to assist
individuals from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds obtain preliminary
training in the medical sciences. Selected individuals commit to a comprehensive
three year curriculum which will focus on clinical diagnosis and patient interview,
community based health services research and medical ethics.
All students will receive lifelong mentoring and career counseling with the
hopes that they will pursue careers in the medical sciences
